Stop urban sprawl in South Cambridgeshire
A public pledge focused on South Cambridgeshire. Over thirty years the starting point here is about 36,150 homes. Sign below.
Our demand
You can't just add hundreds of thousands of homes to our existing villages and market towns and call it a plan. The government's starting point for this region is another 1,367,880 homes over thirty years — including about 36,150 in South Cambridgeshire — piled onto places that already lack school places, GP capacity, water, sewage and the roads to cope.
If you're going to build homes, do it in one place, with the infrastructure funded and delivered up front — not smeared across the edge of every parish. Read how to stop urban sprawl.
We are against urban sprawl: gradual, scattered growth that destroys the countryside and ruins the services we rely on.
What we're asking
- Stop treating every village and market town as a dumping ground for unmet housing numbers.
- If large-scale building is required, concentrate it with schools, health, water, sewage, energy and transport built in from the start.
- Measure infrastructure capacity honestly before allocating more land, and publish the gaps.
